Consumers in Spain have increased their snack consumption over the last 5 years.
Cheese is the most popular flavor in snacks, followed by chicken, barbecue and chili. Over last year, for about 1 in 5 consumers in Spain preferred more of traditional/nostalgic flavors.
Gluten free is the top claim in snacks categories, with notable share of 36% and growth of +6% (Jan 2017- Dec 2021). Organic snacks are the second most claims opted by consumers in Spain.
Bakery is leading in the top ten of F&B NPDs tracked in Spain between 2017-2021. The category had a growth of 13,6% in 2021 (compared to 11,4% in 2017). The leading subcategory as percentage of all bakery launches in Spain (2017-2021) is Sweet Biscuits and Cookies followed by Bread & Bread Products but Savory Biscuits and Crackers saw a +22% CAGR (2017-2021).
